The Righteous Mothers
Saturday, November 17

“The Mothers open hearts with their zany physical comedy. The harmonies throughout are taut with an easy feel and the ideology slips unencumbered into consciousness, buoyed as it is by hummable melodies, gentle tone, and caressing vision.” –Laura Post,
Sing Out! Magazine

The Righteous Mothers are four funny, fabulous, philosophical, female progressive feminist folk musicians who surprise and delight young and old, gay and straight, male and female with their quirky humor and open hearts.

They write and perform original music, addressing issues as wildly diverse as U.S Supreme Court decisions, labor pains, annoying dreams, secret obsessions, women's body images, creativity, and being a sleepyhead as well as lost love, regrets and personal grief.

Righteous Mothers

From hilarious political, personal and social satire to deeply moving, heartfelt songs on serious subjects, their music soars on their seamlessly intricate vocal harmonies, both a capella and supported by solid instrumentals: keyboard, bass, acoustic guitar and percussion. Their music defies easy categorization, melding beautiful female voices and harmonies in a blend of genres ranging from Folk to Rock n' Roll, Tango to Gospel and Caribbean to the Blues .

At folk festivals, conferences and colleges in Canada and across the United States and in their native Puget Sound region, audiences have been taken on the emotional roller coaster that is a Righteous Mothers performance. Audiences find them infectiously funny, inspirational and charming.
